With each wash, countless plastic fibers from synthetic textiles are making their way from washing machines into rivers and oceans.
The Guppyfriend washing bag is a patented solution, that filters out the tiniest microfibers released from textiles during washing. The self-cleaning fabric bag is made of a specially designed micro-filter material. Simply collect the fibers and dispose them of properly.
- Material | Polyamid 6.6 untreated
- Size | 29.1" x 19.7"
- Use | Place synthetic fabrics into bag for washing. Do not overfill. Wash with like colours. Put through a regular washing cycle. Remove wet textiles after wash, and remove any microfibres to be disposed of properly. You may not see fibers in your first few washes, but they will accumulate over time.
- Made in the USA
Why We Chose Them | We love the Ocean, and any product that is working towards making it a safer, cleaner place is ideal in our books. The Guppyfriend washing bag is one way we can prevent the release of microplastics into ocean waters. They recognize that this is one small step forward, and can be a daily reminder to change our buying habits, our washing practices, and encourage a more responsible lifestyle in general.
Our sewing facilities are located in Vancouver, B.C. We love having them so close to home. Producing locally means we stay connected to the lifecycle of our garments, and the people who make them.
We can visit the facilities any time we need to and have cultivated close relationships with the people responsible for making our clothes. We are a people-first brand and we feel good knowing that our products are produced ethically in facilities that value their employees. We value them too!
Navigating the textile world is tricky. It’s not currently set up for the most sustainable of supply chains. We are working all the time to find better ways to approach production and make the best choices we can. In the end, our hope is that every one of our pieces creates meaningful conversation around minimizing our environmental impact and keeping our Oceans cleaner. This is how we plan to be a part of lasting change leading us towards a more conscious future.
Naturals and neutrals are the cornerstones of our design method. We apply this to our clothing line because we want you to build a wardrobe that will last. We prefer clean lines, quality fabrics, and a neutral palette that you can mix together over and over embracing a collection that meets the slow fashion movement.
Purchases are intentional when guided by the belief that we really can have more from less. And you’re doing the planet a big favour; by choosing long-lasting, natural fibres, you will be contributing less to landfills and supporting more sustainable production practices, keeping our Earth cleaner and less cluttered.
